Sometimes you have to leave and make a glorious return: Ashrae Fax and Mexican Summer unite!4/21/2013 After almost a decade since making our last recording; a no-budget, self-released, spray-painted CDR called Static Crash!, some pretty amazing people got a hold of it and decided it was worth listening to. In 2011, Ry Mar of Carborro, NC re-released a short-run vinyl pressing of Static Crash! on his little but loving label Hot Releases. Much to our dumbfounded surprise, a pretty excited group of followers had nice things to say about our music and we sold all of our vinyl and started getting lots of requests for more. All of this unexpected action was great but seemed like it was happening ten years too late.
Folks from all over the world who appreciate the music we made when we were kids roughing it in the simultaneously lean and fleshy underground art scene of our hometown, Greensboro NC, passed it around and the recording eventually made it into the hands of NY city's Doug Mosurock— a heralded music writer from Still Single, a great DJ named Frank Deserto, and an amazing musician/band called Tamaryn. From there it was passed along to the fine folks at Mexican Summer who contacted us. They loved Static Crash! and we were shocked. We are proud to announce that Mexican Summer is releasing a remastered version of Static Crash! with really amazing screen printed poster sleeves. We're also currently working on our first new record since 2003, both of which are coming your way later this year. They're also releasing a comp of rare releases we put out before Static Crash!. The comp will hit the streets early next year and will have awesome bonus downloadables. So now you can have everything we've ever made and more.
